Moore County Republicans/Conservatives
Federal and State Issues

Background

A couple of years ago, a team of Moore County Republicans and Conservatives was formed for the purpose of identifying our priority federal and state issues and bringing them to the attention of our elected representatives.  The Moore County team included representatives from the Moore County Republican Party, the Moore County Women’s and Men’s Clubs and Moore TEA Citizens.  During a series of meetings, the team agreed on the key issues facing our state and our country, prioritized them and sent them to our elected representatives in Washington, DC and Raleigh.

Washington Trip

After the issues were sent to our North Carolina Senators and Representatives in Washington, the team scheduled a trip to Washington to meet with them and other influential members of Congress, including Rep. John Boehner, who was the Speaker of the House at the time.  During the meetings, we reviewed the issues with our elected representatives and made sure they understood the things that are important to us.  The result of the meetings was very positive.

Raleigh Trip

The following year, a similar trip was scheduled in Raleigh to meet with Senator Tillman and Representatives Boles and McNeill.  We also met with several other key elected representatives to deliver our message.

Updates to the Issues

Over the last couple of years, the original team was convened again to update the issues and again communicate them to our elected representatives.  The most recent version is included here, on the MCGOP website.

Future Plans

During the Moore County Republican Convention, which will be held in Pinehurst on March 4, 2017, we plan to review the updated issues with the convention delegates and get their input and priorities.  Then, we will again communicate them to our elected representatives.  Our belief is that if we expect our elected representatives to act in accordance with our priorities, we need to be sure we communicate them to them.
