December 10, 2015 Luncheon
The MCRMC held their December, 2015, luncheon meeting at the Country Club of NC beginning at 11:30 A.M. Outgoing Club President, Tom Beddow, presided. New officers and board members for 2016 were elected, revisions to the Club Bylaws were passed, and the old and new boards recognized the leadership and contributions of Tom Beddows by presenting him with a plaque. The presentation was made by past Club President, Louis Gregory.
The audience was entertained by a concert given by the Pinecrest High School Madrigal Chorus of Southern Pines, NC. Finally, Club Chaplain, Bruce Carlson, gave a Christmas homily to close the meeting. |
November 12, 2015 Luncheon
The Moore County Republican Men's Club held their monthly luncheon beginning at 11:30 A.M. on Thursday, November 12, 2015, at the Country Club of NC (CCNC) in Pinehurst, NC. Club President, Tom Beddow, presided. The invocation was given by Bruce Carlson, Club Chaplain. Nancy Fiorillo, newly re-elected Mayor of the Town of Pinehurst, led the Pledge of Allegiance and then updated the Club members on the past week's Veterans' Day events and celebrations.
Next, Louis Gregory, candidate for election to the Moore County Board of Commissioners in 2016, addressed the group. The treasurer's report was given by Bob Tweed, Club Treasurer. And NC State Senator Buck Newton, candidate for election to the office of NC Attorney-General spoke to the audience and asked for support in his campaign. Then came the two featured speakers: |
● Mr. John Hood, of the Pope Center for NC Policy in Higher Education and President of the John Locke Foundation, spoke about his newly published biography of NC's first Republican Governor and only two-term Republican governor, Jim Martin. The book is entitled: "Catalyst: Jim Martin and the Rise of North Carolina Republicans".

The Republican Men's Club of Moore County, NC, held their August 13th luncheon meeting beginning at 11:30 A.M. at the Country Club of NC in Pinehurst. Club President Tom Beddow presided, and Club Program Director George Little introduced the featured speaker, Nick Picerno. Nick is the current Chairman of the Moore County Board of Commissioners and has served on the Board for eight years.

February 12, 2015 Luncheon
The Moore County Republican Men's Club held their February luncheon at the Country Club of NC in Pinehurst beginning at 11:30 A.M. on Thursday, 2/12/2015. Tom Beddow, President, presided. The program featured a celebration of former Representative Howard Coble's contributions to the nation, NC, and Moore County. Rep. Coble addressed the audience with tales from his career and took a few questions. After the honorarium for Rep. Coble, the featured speaker was Francis DeLuca from the Civitas Institute. Mr. DeLuca addressed a number of critical issues and important relevant facts. Among other business, the members present voted to elect John Jarrett as the Club Membership Director for the rest of 2015 to replace Larry Golay who is relocating out of the area. |
January 8, 2015 Luncheon
The Moore County Republican Men's Club held their January, 2015, meeting at the Country Club of NC beginning at 11:30 A.M. on Thursday, January 8. Club President, Tom Beddow, presided. The featured speaker was Mr. John Davis, of John Davis Consulting who was introduced to the audience by George Little. John Davis is a non-partisan political analyst and writer. His 38-year career includes work at all levels of politics, from legislative and gubernatorial to congressional and presidential. His national experience includes his work with business leaders in over half of the states in the United States. From Maine to Montana; from Maryland to New Mexico, he has conducted over 1,000 briefings on political trends and helped organize business political research organizations. |
Mr. Davis presented an in-depth analysis of the recent elections and the political demographics and winds in the state of North Carolina.
Also, incoming Club Secretary, John Lexo, was sworn into office by Moore County Clerk of Superior Court, Susan Hicks.

Nov. 13, 2014 Luncheon
The Moore County Republican Men's Club held their November luncheon at the Country Club of NC (CCNC) in Pinehurst beginning at 11:30 A.M. The mood was jovial following this year's general elections. The two featured speakers were: ● Walter Perry "Walt" Havenstein, an American businessman, engineer, former United States Marine and an unsuccessful Republican candidate for Governor of New Hampshire in 2014. Walt spoke about his campaign experiences in New Hampshire during this year's primary and general elections. ● Mitch Kokai joined the John Locke Foundation as director of communications and political analyst in December 2005. Kokai had worked more than four years as chief state government reporter for News 14 Carolina, now known as Time Warner Cable News. He has been in radio for many years before that. Mitch spoke about his analysis of this year's election results. |
August 14, 2014 Luncheon
The Moore Republican Men's Club held their August luncheon meeting at the Country Club of NC beginning at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, August 14. The meeting schedule was altered to accommodate the featured speaker, Speaker of the NC House, Thom Tillis, who is the Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate in this fall's elections. Speaker Tillis was introduced by and followed by Senator Richard Burr, the senior US Senator from NC. After Speaker Tillis and Senator Burr's remarks, the Club presented contributions to several local candidates. Finally, Robert Bayner and Alexann Baily, Chair and Vice-Chair respectively, of the Young Republicans Club of Pinecrest High School thanked the Club for sponsoring their recent trip to Washington D.C. and informed the audience about the details of their trip. |
May 8, 2014 Luncheon
The Moore Republican Mens' Club held their May 8 luncheon meeting at the Country Club of NC. The winning Republican Primary candidates were invited to attend so they can meet and greet our members and guests. They will also be invited to meetings beyond May so that all of our members can get comfortable with our candidates who we will support in November. In addition to candidates, Judge Mark Martin was the featured speaker. He is Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of North Carolina and is running for the Chief Justice seat on the NC Supreme Court this year. Judge Martin brought the audience up to date on many issues that have been and will be brought before the Supreme Court. |

Jan. 9, 2014 Luncheon
The January meeting of the Moore County Republican Men’s Club was held on Thursday, January 9th at CCNC. Our new Club President, Tom Beddow presided over this first meeting of 2014. The featured speaker was Ken Lewis, CEO of FirstCarolina Care, a regional health insurance company serving this area. Mr. Lewis spoke on the impacts, risks, costs, and direction of health insurance and medical care under ObamaCare. Ken is one of our own Club members. He is particularly qualified to talk on this subject as he is the President of FirstCarolinaCare Insurance. Other speakers made announcements and gave reports. |
December 12, 2013 Christmas Dinner

The December meeting of the Moore County Republican Mens Club will take place on Thursday, Dec. 12 at CCNC with registration and cash bar commencing at 5:45 pm.
We are very pleased to have the Pinecrest High School Holiday Madrigals performing for us to help get us in the holiday mood. These talented young people and their teacher, Erin Slenk, will also join us for dinner after their performance, so we will have a unique opportunity to meet and chat with the future of our community.

We will also have Glenda M. Clendenin, Director of the Moore County Board of Elections, with us to lay out the election cycle for 2014 and to answer our questions about BOE procedures currently and expected changes going forward. As you likely know Glenda has been at this for a long time, achieving a level of professionalism and recognition that makes her a standout in our state. She and her staff routinely deal with the complexity of election law, multiple ballots, multiple voting methods and devices, and disparate precincts ― and render election results that are fair, accurate, timely, and respectful of the rights of every voter. We thank her for that. She is also an excellent cook, a talented singer and a community leader that we can all be proud of.

There were no nominations from the floor; therefore, this will be an uncontested election to occur at the December Christmas Dinner on December 12, also at CCNC. Returning to the Board are Felice Schillaci and Nell Godfrey as At-Large Board Members and Bill Cochrane as Club Webmaster.
The featured speaker at this meeting was NC District 2 Representative Renee Ellmers. Rep. Ellmers addressed a number of contemporary issues and concerns after which she took a few questions from the floor.

The Moore County Republican Men's Club held their October 18 luncheon meeting at the Country Club of NC (CCNC) beginning at 11:30 A.M. The Club President, Louis Gregory, announced the nominations for 2014 officers at the November meeting, and he announced that he would not be running or serving for a second term as Club President. He formally announced his candidacy for the District 3 seat on the Moore County Board of Commissioners in the upcoming 2014 elections.
The featured apeaker was Dr. Mike Adams, a professor at University of NC - Wilmington. Dr. Adams spoke on current issues and what the Republican Party should do to prevail in future political debates and to win in future elections. |

The Moore Republican Men's Club held their September luncheon meeting at the Country Club of NC on Thursday, September 12, 2013. The featured speaker was Cleta Mitchell, a renowned Republican political law attorney in Washington, D.C.
Her topic was "The IRS Scandal: Inside the Battle for the Truth". Cleta represents a number of conservative issue groups that have been targeted by the IRS since 2009, including True the Vote, the voter integrity organization that has sued the IRS in federal court in Washington. The lawsuit seeks to obtain True the Vote's tax-exempt status, and to get to the truth of the scandal. |
June 13, 2013 Luncheon
The Moore County Republican Men’s Club met on Thursday, June 13th. Our very distinguished speaker was General William F. "Buck" Kernan, United States Army retired, former Supreme Allied Commander, Atlantic and Commander in Chief, United States Joint Forces Command. Buck is a native of Texas, born directly into the Army at Fort Sam Houston. 22 years later he was commissioned from Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning , Ga. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in History and a Master's Degree in Personnel Administration. Both of those degrees came in handy in his outstanding military career. |
May 9, 2013 Luncheon
Featured speakers at this meeting were Caleb Miles, President of the Moore County Convention and Visitors Bureau, and Jeff Stoefen of the United States Golf Association. Caleb discussed the strategies and tactics the CVB uses to attract more visitors and groups to our area and to maximize what they spend while they are here. Jeff discussed the biggest single economic event for us in this decade, the 2014 US Mens' and Womens' Opens at Pinehurst #2. He also told us what to expect during those two weeks in June, 2014 and in the run up to the events. He will also cover the expected economic impact before, during and after the events. |
April 11, 2013 Meeting
The Moore County Republican Men's Club held their April meeting at the Country Club of NC (CCNC) beginning at 12:30 PM on Thursday, April 11. Louis Gregory, President of the MCRMC presided. Many elected officials attended to honor retired NC Senator Harris Blake for his lifetime of service. NC Senate President Pro Tempore Phil Berger gave an interesting update on the current activities and priorities in this 2013 legislative session, after which he introduced retired Senator Blake and presented to him the Order of the Longleaf, the highest and most prestigious award that the Governor of North Carolina may present to an outstanding citizen of the State of North Carolina for meritorious service and contributions. Senator Blake then spoke, spending much of his time speaking of his work to improve relations with China founded upon his work to return Lieutenant Hall Upchurch's remains to Moore County and to establish memorial monuments to this war hero both in Moore County and in China. Other important business was conducted in this meeting, including discussions of the upcoming MCRMC golf tournament fundraiser and the recruitment of new members. |

The featured speaker was Pat Corso, executive director of Moore County Partners in Progress, a public/private partnership promoting economic development in our county. Pat focused his remarks on the Partners' latest initiative "Moore Forward", an incubator now up and running in the Village of Pinehurst to provide entrepreneurs with a support system to help get their businesses off the ground. |

December 13, 2012 Meeting
The Moore County Republican Men's Club held their December meeting at CCNC beginning at 7:00 P.M. The feature of the meeting was a concert by the Pinecrest High School Choir. These remarkably talented young adults enthralled the audience with the beauty of their voices singing songs of Christmas. You will certainly find the Christmas spirit in listening to their wonderful performance. Following the choir, new officers were elected. The meeting was adjourned, and all departed wishing one another a very Merry Christmas. |

Before lunch, Moore County Commissioner Nick Picerno led the Pledge of Allegiance and addressed the group. NC State Representative Jamie Boles announced the upcoming Aberdeen Sardine Festival. After lunch, NC Speaker of the House, Representative Thom Tillis addresses the group. His speech was rousing, informative, and of great interest to everyone. |
